Champions League May 3rd & May 4th 2026

In this drabbest of winters, we need something to look forward to. So we are happy to say it is time to save the date for the 2026 Dalkey United Champions League. For so many, it is the highlight of the Dalkey United year and it has become a central part of the calendar in the local community.

This year, once again, it will take place on the Sunday and Monday of the May Bank Holiday. Booking information and a call out for volunteers will be announced in due course but for now, just mark May 3rd and May 4th in your calendar.

Dalkey United has played an important role in our local neighbourhood since 1953, providing an environment for boys and girls of all abilities to play the game they love in an atmosphere of support and encouragement.

As we embark on our ambitious plans to celebrate our 75th anniversary in two years’ time, we want to ensure that all members of our community have an opportunity to experience that welcome and sense of connection that comes from being part of Dalkey United. We are currently looking to establish two new groups within our club – if you have a family member or friend who you think would be interested please ask them to contact Graham at [email protected]:

Walking Football

This will be a great opportunity to keep men and women active in our wider Dalkey community. The “Walking Football” concept will be based solely on non-competitive games, having fun and is targeted at both men and women over the age of 60. The matches are on smaller pitches, 5 or 7 a-side, and the aim is to introduce weekly games. The key concepts of Walking Football are no running and non-contact.

Walking Football provides a good cardiovascular workout without putting too much strain on the body, encourages socialising and supports inclusivity. Engaging in regular physical activity like walking football can also reduce stress, improve your mood, and boost cognitive function.

Football for All

Football For All was established in the FAI in 2002 to promote inclusion among people with disabilities in Irish football communities.

The vision of Football For All is “to enable every person in Ireland to participate in our game, to allow all involved in the game to reach their full potential, whatever level that might be, and to inspire the nation through international success at the highest level.”

The Key Objectives for Football for All includes increasingparticipation of players with disabilities from 6 years of age in football through an inclusive environment.
